Notice of Regular Meeting - March 17, 2023

Changes in Election Laws

A law passed in January 2023 has made several changes to the laws governing elections.  The biggest changes affect the types of identifications which can be used to vote.  A helpful chart can be found by clicking here.  Please note that the type of identification you will need to provide will depend upon how you are voting.  The chart uses the term military identification which is defined as:  U.S. military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card, or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card.  If you do not have any of the identification listed on the chart, after April 7, 2023 you can receive a free identification at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  The Bureau of Motor Vehicles will require that you bring your birth certificate or U.S. passport, social security card, and proof of residency.

If you wish to receive an absentee ballot by mail, the new absentee ballot application can be found here.  Your absentee ballot by mail request must be received no later than 8:30 p.m. on April 25, 2023, which is seven days prior to the May Election.  You can request your absentee ballot TODAY!  The first day that absentee ballots can be mailed to you is April 4, 2023.  Absentee ballots by mail must be postmarked by the day before the May Election, or May 1, 2023 and must be received no later than May 6, 2023 or four days after Election Day.

If you vote a provisional ballot because you did not have the correct identification, you will have until May 6, 2023 or four days after Election Day to bring valid identification to the Board of Elections' office so your ballot can be counted.  If you do not have one of the forms of identification listed on the chart, after April 7, 2023 you can receive a free Ohio state identification at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The schedule for in office absentee voting has changed, with the elimination of voting at the Board of Elections the day prior to the election.  The Monday before the election day voting hours have been redistributed to the week before the election.
