Emergency Management Agencies are charged with assessing damages to households, businesses and public infrastructure following natural, technological and human made emergencies or catastrophic disasters. Most prevalent in these categories are tornados or strong wind events like micro and macro-bursts and river and flash flooding.

Doing an immediate survey of damages allows emergency managers to determine the extent of loss, suffering and harm to citizens, families and public infrastructure.

While we do every effort to capture every home, under reporting of damages can occur. To assist with reporting and tracking of damages, Portage County EMA partnered with Futurity IT and the ORION Disaster Pre-Planning and Damage Assessment Solution.

Citizens can now report damages from any internet assessible device, and those reports are streamline to the Portage County Emergency Operations Center for live notifications and map tracking! In addition, we can see images submitted of damages to gauge the severity of the event and concentration of damages in the hopes of seeking federal and state disaster relief programs.
