Portage County Job & Family Services Invites Applicants to OPEN INTERVIEW DAY on June 16 

RAVENNA, OHIO – Portage County Job & Family Services (JFS) will be holding OPEN INTERVIEWS for multiple positions including Eligibility Specialist and Social Service Worker 3 on Thursday, June 16, 2022, between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the agency’s OhioMeansJobs Center, 253 S. Chestnut St. in Ravenna. 

The open interview day is intended to be a one-stop shop that will fast track hiring as the agency works to restore staffing levels that have suffered due to the pandemic and other issues. There are nine (9) vacancies for Eligibility Specialist, seven (7) vacancies for Social Service Worker 3, and three (3) vacancies for Social Service Worker 3 at the agency’s Group Home, one of them being part-time. 

  • The Eligibility Specialist assists individuals and families, determining whether they qualify for programs that offer subsidized childcare, food, cash, and medical assistance.  
  • The Social Service Worker 3 assesses reports of child abuse and neglect to determine whether a child is at risk and protective services are needed.  
  • The Social Service Worker 3 – Group Home oversees implementation of the Child Service Plan for children residing in the agency’s group home.
