Incumbent Worker Training is an employer service that allows OMJPC to reimburse employers for training their current workforce. Starting May 17, 2021 employers can apply. The application period runs through May 28, 2021. Complete the application below and return it to [email protected] or reach out to that email with questions.

Find Qualified Job Candidates using or OhioMeansJobs Portage County’s Business Services Team

Employers that like self-directed services  can utilize to help them find the right employees with ease at no cost.  Getting started is easy.  Just log onto, click on “Get Started” under “employers,” and look for these icons:

Checkmark Posting a job at is quick and easy.  Registration is required. You will need your organization’s FEIN (Federal Employee Identification Number) and State of Ohio Tax Withholding Account Number you can have immediate and full access to search resumes.

Magnify  Easily search millions of resumes by experience, veteran status, education, location and more.

Pre-Screening of Resumes and Applications

Employers may choose to have resumes pre-screened to their job requirements.  Potential candidates may also complete applications at our site and qualified applicants will be referred.

Free Advertising

Job postings may be displayed in the center for all local job seekers in addition to online.  Additionally, employers that participate with OhioMeansJobs may be recognized and/or have job opportunities shared on flyers, social media, email blasts and other outreach materials without cost.

Information and contacts for a wide range of community resources can be provided.

Labor Market Information

Labor market information based on your requirements can be provided.

Federal Contractor Requirements

Federal contractors and subcontractors are required to immediately list all employment openings with the nearest State Job Services Office or Workforce Development Offices. OhioMeansJobs Centers meet this requirement

Hiring Events

If you are expanding your current business or opening a new facility, we can provide you with candidates no matter how many you require. Our OhioMeansJobs Centers offer an ideal location for recruiting a large number of candidates.

Rapid Response Services

If you are downsizing or closing your business, we can assist by meeting with your workers to explain their options and help them get re-employed. Our staff can conduct this service at your facility or at Our OhioMeansJobs Centers.

Tax Incentives

Tax Incentives can help employers offset hiring costs. offers employers access and information on these valuable resources so that their businesses can succeed.

The Work Opportunity and Welfare-to-Work Tax Credit Program (WOTC) are federal tax credits which provide Ohio employers with a tax credit against their federal tax liability for hiring individuals from targeted groups of job seekers such as TANF & SNAP Recipients, Veterans, Ex-Felons, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients. 

Go to How to Participate  for steps on accessing our online application and requesting certification. The employer or agent must apply for, and receive, certification to claim these tax credits. Agents acting on behalf of employers must send us a valid Power of Attorney.  

Note: Applications must be submitted to the Ohio WOTC Office within 28 days of the start to work date to meet the timely filing criteria. Don’t miss this tax credit by missing the deadline!

On-The-Job Training

You Hire, You Train, We Pay:  Training may be offered for select jobs up to 6 months with partial reimbursement of the wage rate you are paying the trainee. Call us to find out more about the OJT program and our customized training programs.
