Franklin Township Fire Flow Testing

A Franklin Township industry will be conducting fire flow tests today starting at noon.  The tests should be concluded around 2:00 PM.  The test requires large volumes of water being used from the Portage County Water Resource distribution system.  Based on the volume of water needed for the test it is anticipated that water in the system will become discolored.  This discolored water is caused by naturally occurring minerals being stirred up within the water mains.

 

If discolored water happens at your property, please run cold water in bathtubs until the water runs clear, this may be necessary for as long as 5 to 10 minutes.  Only after the water returns to normal should laundry and other water projects be resumed.  The water remains safe for drinking and cooking.

 

The inconvenience caused by this fire flow tests today should not last more than a day.  If problems persist, customers should call our Customer Service Center at (330) 297-3685.  PCWR wishes to thank our customers in advance for their patience as the fire flow testing is being completed.
