Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM): An ankle bracelet that measures the ethanol gas in the insensible perspiration, which is a predictable result of alcohol consumption. Transdermal alcohol testing using the bracelet is passive and is done automatically every 30 minutes.
SCRAMx combines transdermal alcohol monitoring and electronic monitoring in one bracelet. If an offender moves outside the acceptable range set by the supervising authority, an alert is generated. GPS continuously monitors an offender's geographical position. The supervising authority can establish geographic restriction zones to control offender movement throughout the community and will immediately generate an alert with all zone violations.
