History & Resources
Breakneck Creek meanders through the northern border of this 66-acre park. The property also contains historic P&O Canal and B&O Railroad remnants. It was acquired through a state grant with contributions from the City of Kent and Portage County. The conserved wetlands and woods of the park help to protect the Breakneck Creek watershed, which is the second largest tributary to the Cuyahoga River and provides drinking water for tens of thousands of people. The property has a diverse successional habitat of grasses, forbs, shrubs and trees that provide food and shelter for native wildlife. A large beaver pond that supports a variety of wildlife can be viewed from the end of the River Otter Trail. This is an excellent location for bird and wildlife watching!
